Brandon Herrera Meets with White House, Department of Homeland Security, Advocates for Common-Sense Solution for Big Bend Border Security

Washington, DC – Today, Brandon Herrera, the Republican nominee for Texas’s 23rd Congressional District, met with leaders at the White House and the Department of Homeland Security in Washington, DC, to discuss border security plans in the area of Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park.
Herrera made the following statement:
There has been great concern among the people of my district about how a potential physical border wall could damage the natural beauty of Big Bend and harm tourism in the area.
In my meetings today with White House and Department of Homeland Security leaders, I advocated for an alternative solution that could rely on advanced technologies and an interdiction strategy that would not have a negative impact on the environment, wildlife, or the thriving tourism that creates so many jobs here.
I am optimistic that, working together, we can find a common-sense solution that both secures the border and maintains the national treasure that is Big Bend so that Americans of future generations may enjoy its natural beauty.
