Campaign press release: child welfare case
The September 16, 2026 Herrera campaign press release spotlights a troubling choice by Katy Padilla Stout: representing a father who appealed the termination of his parental rights after abuse findings in a child welfare case. Stout could have declined the representation but instead represented him through an appeal the court rejected. The appellate court record for In re V.A. and L.A. (No. 04-25-00396-CV) lists Stout as counsel and shows the termination was affirmed. The campaign says the case raises serious questions about Stout’s judgment and priorities.
